"I have tried MANY watercolor tutorials and none have even come close to Rebecca’s. I was getting very disappointed with my paintings. Although Rebecca’s paintings do take time and are very detailed, the results are well worth the effort. It’s amazing what you can do when you follow her instructions and even eventually paint your own pet portraits."

"I can’t say enough about my love for Rebecca’s tutorials. Rebecca’s teaching background makes these tutorials great for beginners and painters of all levels. I love the detailed tips and the speed of the tutorials. I have done some from other artists and they have been so hard to follow. I can’t believe the wide variety and amount of tutorials in the school. The positive nature of Rebecca and all the members is so lovely and I feel that there is always support and quick responses to any questions. Best thing ever was joining!!

“I am so thankful to you Rebecca for the great classes that I am able to utilize. With practice, I was able to learn the great techniques so I can create the desired paintings I was wanting. Plus, I am grateful for this safe platform to share. This is really helping me move forward and gain confidence I need to start a Pet Portrait business. Thank you all for your positive comments.”

Thank you, Rena!

"I began to look for an online school that taught animal portrait painting. I found Rebecca's website and joined her school and am so delighted that I did.

I risk repeating what you guys have all said. The tutorials are just great. With Rebecca's help, we can all produce amazing masterpieces to be proud of.

I had just retired from a very busy life and was looking for something fulfilling to occupy my time, while not really knowing what that might be.

Thank you Rebecca for making it so easy to transition into my new life. I love what I do now and am always thinking about my next project, a portrait for a friend, a gift card, etc.

I have still got a lot to learn but the journey ahead is so exciting. I have made some friends through Rebecca's school.

Rebecca is an amazing teacher and fabulous artist. Thanks Rebecca for being so patient with all of us."

"I took the beginners course on eyes, nose, fur, and a dog. The instructions are very clear, and everything is explained step by step, very well and calmly. You're a master at teaching! I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to start watercoloring, as well as those with experience."

"Just the kind of detail that I have been searching for in Pets."

"I’ve just finished Rebecca’s free course (the dog’s eye) and was amazed by my resulting painting. I’ve never painted anything this realistic before and Rebecca’s lessons made it so easy to follow the process from start to finish. I give Rebecca Rhodes permission to use this testimonial in the online school."

Thank you, Patty!

"I have been here about 30 days now and I tell you, there is not a day that goes by that I don't wake up excited about what my next journey or painting is going to be.

What will I learn today? I always think as I sip my coffee while in front of my computer! Sometimes it is reading mail and other times it is just reflecting on what I learned the day before, what I need to finish up, practice on, or begin new.

I honestly never felt like this before I found Rebecca Rhodes and her online school!  I found it and it was like I had come home!  Her techniques are what I always searched for and never could find no matter how hard I looked.

I have followed several artists and their tutorials.  I was with one for over a year and never learned what I have learned in these 30 days spent here!!

When I was drawing with colored pencils, I was always after the realistic appearance of my drawings and then I decided I wanted to learn to paint.  I tried watercolor first, then tried my hand at Acrylics, (didn't like those) and came back to watercolor, all the time ready to throw it all out the window because I thought I would never get it, or understand it !

I stuck with it and now feel like I have come full circle, and I am home finally.

Painting like this I believe is a dream for every artist, provided they can find the right style, the right teacher, and the correct platform and Rebecca provides all of that here!

I have grown so much in my time here and I thirst for more every day!   I know it might sound funny to say, but I am "hungry" for knowledge, skill, the techniques, whether it be animals, flowers, people, places or things, landscapes, seascapes, mountains, or valleys, I can not express how much this journey has meant to me.

I am blessed to have found Rebecca.  She inspires me, I "click" with her, and it all makes sense.

Never in my life did I think I could paint animal and human eyes in watercolor! or paint so small with tiny brushes.  Now that is all I want.  I am blessed each day.

Thank you Rebecca for all you do to create this community and school, to teach what you know, how you encourage us to reach just a little further! "You can do this" is what you say!  and Yes I can !!! thank you, thank you, thank you."

“Just wanted to say that I have watched through Part three of the Westie painting and it is extremely enjoyable and learning a great deal… I love the way you layered the eyes and your explanation and narration is very explicit and understanding of what you are doing… thank you! Love watching you paint… I think it would be a great idea for you to move to NYC and open up the REBECCA RHODES SCHOOL OF ANIMAL PORTRAITS IN WATERCOLOR… and if you needed it, which you probably wouldn’t, I would gladly hand out flyers on the street corner.” from Marvin

"I'm new to watercolor painting, or any painting for that matter, but I'm obsessed. I stumbled onto the cardinal and decided to give it a go. I have learned so much from the gentle lesson provided by Rebecca. I can't wait for my next lesson."

  • - Susan

"Rebecca is one of the best teachers. Her classes are worth so much! I started with zero experience and have now painted several pet portraits for clients. This class is well worth the money! Do not hesitate to join!"

Thank you, Michelle!

"Being brand new to watercolors I can tell you the medium can be intimidating.

Rebecca's tutorials and instructions are just like having a teacher by your side.  She carefully and slowly explains what each of the various consistencies are and shows you straight from her palette to the paper.

She is precise in her  instruction - "just a bit of color on the tip of the brush" - so you know exactly what she is doing in each step.

You can start by working on just an eye, then a nose and build up to a full tutorial of a realistic animal.  And boy will you be amazed and thrilled at your results.

Yet, Rebecca's instructions don't stop there.  If you are ready to venture out and start a portrait on your own she, and the rest of the community, are there to help guide you over any bumps you may be experiencing.

If you look in awe at Rebecca's work and desire to paint this way then by all means take one (or all) of her courses - you won't be disappointed!"

"I have tried many times to paint a realistic cat, without success. I saw the Rebecca Rhodes site, watched the free video and liked her style. I purchased the lesson for cats, and couldn't be more pleased with the results! It was like having a private painting lesson with the teacher by my side. Rebecca explains techniques very simply and at a pace I think any aspiring artist could follow."

  • - Indar

"The free tutorial was exciting and I have learnt a lot. Previously I have attempted to paint animals and have had problems with the fur and shading to draw out the bone structure. I also have practiced patience, and layering to add depth to the fur. Thank you Rebecca for your detailed instructions."

"Rebecca's videos have changed my life. I am not normally a patient person, I like to do things that are quick to finish. But now, after watching Rebecca paint, patiently and thoroughly, I am becoming a more relaxed painter...and if I find myself getting anxious or bored with a current painting, I do a small item that I can finish in an hour or two. Then I can get back to the big job with fresh energy. Thank you again, Rebecca, for all your help and sharing your amazing talent!"

Thank you, Deb!

"Like most people here, I had tried various watercolour techniques and classes before I discovered Rebecca’s channel on YouTube.

My Watercolour experience up to that point had been frustrating with many disappointing results, but here was an artist who produced the kind of paintings I desperately wanted to achieve and, more importantly, she knew exactly how to explain the way in which I could!

Rebecca is a born teacher and artist and her online school is the perfect way to learn watercolours, whether you are a beginner or just looking to improve.

I am now painting pet portraits for other people, and with confidence, but I still refer back to Rebecca at times when I need to and she never lets me down!

I love the ‘Community’ page where everyone shares their art and experience safe in the knowledge they will find encouragement and advice (with a lot of humour and lively chat on almost every other subject!).

Finding Rebecca Rhodes has given me the greatest joy of my life, art!"

“I am a watercolor beginner. I have always wanted to learn to paint with watercolors, specifically to paint dogs and other animals. I can not draw and have not considered myself artistic. When I found Rebecca’s tutorials, I discovered that thanks to her very detailed instructions and step by step guidance, I have actually painted some very cute dogs that look like dogs! Rebecca’s tutorials are excellent and will help anyone who wishes to learn to paint with watercolors in a realistic manner.”

“The online classes from Rebecca Rhodes are taking me on such an exciting adventure and are also taking my work to another level. The very first painting that I did, following her wonderful concise instructions allowed me to sit and smile at my finished painting. Her work is outstanding and her classes… well, I can’t say enough good things about them. Everything is explained so well and shown so clearly that I feel she’s sitting right there next to me. PLEASE take the time and visit her online school where you can watch the step-by-step tutorials in real time.”

“I just wanted to express how really really REALLY happy I have found you, this course, this technique. I have been doing other courses, and some other you tube videos and it just didn’t click. Something was always off for me. But with this technique (even though I have much to learn) is like a ‘Free Willy’ experience! I am out in an ocean of possibility, I click!”

Thank you, Jennifer!

"I was searching for some time to find a tutor that painted animals with realism. Quite by chance I found a free tutorial by Rebecca on line, and that was it....hooked.

Rebecca is a born teacher, her tutorials are extremely clear and divided into different sections, making them a delight to follow.

There are such a variety of tutorials, that there is definitely something for everyone. I have only been a member for a year with Rebecca , but I have learnt so much just in that short time. My biggest regret was I hadn’t found her sooner !

I encourage anybody of all age groups to try this wonderful school. I love that if a member of the school is struggling, there are constantly people driving you forward with encouragement.

Rebecca replies to all your questions at all times, and of course with her wonderful teaching drives us all forward to a higher standard all the time. I honestly would be at a huge loss without art and Rebecca.

 Huge thanks."

Thank you, Helen!

"I have been a member of quite a few watercolour websites in the past and whilst learning a lot, they simply cannot compare to Rebecca's website.

Tired of botanicals, I came across Rebecca by chance!  It was a life changing experience as I now dream about painting most of the time and can't wait to pick up my paintbrushes.

These tutorials are beautifully constructed, just at the right speed for you to take everything in and follow along, whilst being very detailed. It is also so good to be able to see the close up detail of painting being done.

Rebecca is a brilliant teacher..   Don't be put off by Rebecca's incredible tutorial paintings you initially see and drool over (I thought I would never be able to paint them!) as they are suitable for all levels, even beginners.

I would never have believed that I could have produced such an amazing painting at the end.

I have now completed many of these tutorials, painted some of my own and even had some  commissions as a result,  but I still constantly return to Rebecca's tutorials for guidance.

She has small tutorials so you can just work on an animal's eye, nose or fur and these are incredibly useful as tutorials or for refreshing your memory.

I've painted quite a few of Rebecca's tutorials now and would love to do them all.  There are a great selection of animals to paint, so much other generous information that other artists wouldn't want to share and many tips.

Apart from all this, Rebecca is a friend to all of us on the website!  I don't know how she finds time to comment on everyone's paintings and encourage us.  She is personally always there for advice - I have never found that on any other website and Rebecca - we all love you for that!

The community page is wonderful in that we chat about our paintings and are very supportive of each other.  Indeed,  I have made two very good friends through it and we hope to meet up someday!

Rebecca,  you are the most talented and professional artist,  a terrific teacher and  a truly lovely person.  I will always be enormously thankful that I found your website."
