Celebrate World Watercolor Month!

July 1 - 31, 2026

World Watercolor Month is an annual global event where people paint every day in watercolor. Pick up that brush and immerse yourself in the joy of painting! All can participate, even if you are a beginner. Challenge yourself to paint every day, or simply paint when you can. It’s about establishing a regular practice of painting and having fun!

A Challenge for You

Your Mission: Every day in July, paint something in watercolor or gouache. It could be anything - a full painting, a study, or just some splashes of color on paper.

Share!

  • First, right now, tell us what you are going to do. Share in our private Facebook group or on your own social media. By sharing, it will help you to be accountable and stay on track. And we are here to support you!
  • Next, each day in July, share your painting with us and on your favorite social media platforms.

Use the hashtags #WorldWatercolorMonth. and #rebeccarhodesart.

Repeat every day in July (or as many days as you can.)

About World Watercolor Month

World Watercolor Month was founded by Charlie O’Shields, the creator of Doodlewash®, and host of the Sketching Stuff podcast.

It’s a month to inspire people to paint with watercolor while raising awareness for the importance of art and creativity in the world. And anyone can join the celebration from master watercolorists to artists just starting out with watercolor!

Try the ultimate challenge of 31 watercolors in 31 days, or simply post when you can! It’s just about maintaining a regular art practice and having fun!

And, best of all, you’ll be part of raising awareness for art education and helping nurture art and creativity in children across the globe via the International Child Art Foundation!
